JOB SUMMARY:

Incumbent will identify patients that are eligible for alternate resources and assist these patients in applying for alternate resources they could possibly qualify for and provide assistance in completing the applications for such resources.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Acts as an advocate for Native American patients in securing alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs, State Programs, Third Party Liability, and Children’s Special Health Services to name a few.
Identify patients who may be eligible for alternate resources through the effective utilization of screening and interviewing methods.
Works closely with all facility staff in the identification and utilization of all alternate resources available to the Native American population.
Interviews patients using established criteria; follow up on all assigned pending applications.
Works closely with the Social Security Administration on local and regional levels.
Works closely with the Tribal TANF and DFS to establish eligibility for alternate resources.
Works closely with 1st Impressions/patient registration, staff at Wind River Family & Community Health Care
Assist patients/families with applications for alternate resources, which may include traveling to their place of residency to collect required documentation needed to complete the application; helping arrange transportation and interpretation of rules and regulations set forth by programs such as Medicare, and Medicaid.
Works closely with families and agencies as an advocate for the patient to make sure that he/she is not discriminated against.
Must be willing to become a Certified Application Counselor through ACA Marketplace.
Performs other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the program.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED
An associate degree in health care, business or related field preferred not required.
One (1) year experience with benefits coordination, or other healthcare related benefits programs.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the State Medicaid program or the ability to learn the Wyoming rules and regulations pertaining to the Medicaid program.
Ability to learn the RPMS system and competent in computer programs, such as MS Word, Excel, and Google applications i.e., Google sheets, Gmail as well as use standard office equipment.
Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
Be able to effectively communicate and possess a high level of organizational skills.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check under the Indian Child Protection Act and Family Act (P.L.101-630).
