This position serves as a support member of the nursing team at the Wind River Family and Community Health Care System. The incumbent will perform duties under the direction of the supervisory Clinic Nurse and is an assistant to the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or nurse.


Major Duties:

Completes tasks that are clerical in nature and provides technical support to the medical and nursing staff.
Recognizes and initiates emergency procedures during cardiopulmonary arrest, external or internal disaster, etc. and assists the nurse during these occurrences.
Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, following appropriate lines of authority (chain of command).
Completes initial screening of patients in the outpatient clinic using the Electronic Health Record, obtaining an accurate history and recording as appropriate.
Provides patient care within the CNA scope of practice
Monitor vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, weight, height, and records as appropriate in EHR.
Obtains lab results, x-ray reports, operation reports, discharge summaries for follow-up visits to expedite patient visit, often involves calling/faxing other clinics or hospitals.
Stocks supplies in exam rooms and cleans exam rooms between patients to ensure room cleanliness and availability
Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment as needed.
Answers telephone, takes messages and provides physician, mid-level provider, or nurse with appropriate information when needed for continuity of care.
Recognizes and initiates emergency procedures during cardiopulmonary arrest, external or internal disaster, etc. and assists the nurse during these occurrences.
Actively participates in clinical nursing staff meetings, required competencies, annual trainings, clinic flow, projects assigned, and activities.
Communicates with patients, families and team members to ensure the occurrence of effective therapeutic interventions, and to ensure safe patient care.
Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to clinic and departmental safety regulations.
Performs responsibilities for infection control, hazardous materials, safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
Maintains knowledge of information management concepts (Health Records) and effectively participates in implementing the information management principles and maintains security and confidentiality of data and information.
Willing to be flexible and work at any of the Wind River Family and Community Healthcare clinics(Arapaho, Ethete, and Riverton), based on clinical and staffing needs.
Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge Required:

Requires basic knowledge of principles and practices required to perform CNA duties to deliver direct patient care to all age groups.
Knowledge of procedures to provide care to patients according to individual assignments and instructions.
Knowledge and skills required to recognize adverse signs and symptoms in all ages of patients and to react swiftly by alerting the nurse or provider.
Ability to communicate patient problems, gain patient cooperation, function in stressful situations, promote interpersonal relations, and provide excellent customer service is essential.
Knowledge of filing and medical terminology is important.
Knowledge and ability to appreciate cultural differences of the Native American population and their effect on health care delivery to patients and their families.


Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent,-along with any supporting certifications such as BLS and other necessary competencies (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, PALS, etc.).
Must maintain a valid Wyoming CNA license and BLS
