JOB OVERVIEW:

Provides Mental Health peer support services to patients working with the behavioral health department as well as community outreach/education services.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as a role model and mentor to clients working toward recovery. Participates with the crisis/helpline rotation.
Provide individual and group peer specialist services to patients with open treatment plans in Behavioral Health.
Informs, trains, supports, and empowers clients who directly or indirectly receive mental health services, and promotes the client’s and family/caregiver’s perspective within the mental health system.
Provides education to clients about recovery, peer support, consumer advocacy organizations, and illness management.
Strives to maintain client-centered practices by integrating family and positive support systems; effectively facilitate groups to promote mutual learning, engagement, and integration of community resources such as cultural activities, spirituality, and other positive support groups.
Attends and participates in special events, workshops, and training events within the mental health system and community. ·
Provides outreach to engage prospective clients in services or existing clients in increased community involvement by traveling to surrounding communities within the service area.
Complete all documentation within one week from the date the services were provided to maintain quality and productivity standards, up to date clinical records, including progress notes and other relevant information, and enters the necessary information into the electronic health record system.
Adheres and abides by the Wyoming Peer Specialist Code of Ethical Conduct.
Performs other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the program.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Personal lived experience with mental health experiences and/or substance use and in recovery for at least 2 years.
Must be able to understand the impact of trauma and responses to trauma, demonstrate sensitivity and acceptance of individual experiences.
Must have a Wyoming Peer Specialist Certification or be willing to obtain the Wyoming Peer Specialist Certification within 60 days of hire date.
Must practice and maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries.
Must maintain confidentiality in all interactions related to the WRFCHC, i.e., any records or client related information.
Must be flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of the organization.
Must have the ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities, with the ability to be culturally sensitive and culturally appropriate
Current BLS Certification or must be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
