Summary:

Under the immediate supervision of the Lead Fitness Monitor (Ethete), the Fitness Monitor is responsible for the surveillance of the fitness facilities in Arapahoe and its patrons. They provide service and assistance to all Fitness Instructors and patrons.


Major Duties:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for opening, closing and securing the facilities.
Responsible for the appropriate use and cleanliness of all equipment.
Required to provide a welcoming, inclusive, safe and enjoyable service oriented environment for participants at all times
Work all scheduled shifts, with strict attention to being on time
Oversee the facility at all times to ensure the safety of participants and security of equipment.
Must obtain certifications in fitness training, First Aid and CPR.
Must obtain and maintain Personal Trainer Certification.
Must have extensive knowledge of physical fitness equipment and the knowledge skills and ability to design a physical fitness program.
Familiarize participants with safe and effective use of fitness, aerobic and free weight equipment.
Provide service and assistance to all Fitness Instructors and patrons.
Maintain equipment and report any safety or maintenance needs in written form to Lead Fitness Monitor.
Clean and “wipe down” all equipment on a regular basis as schedules with documentation.
Follow opening and closing procedures with documentation.
Prepare incident and injury reports when appropriate.
Respond to and follow all emergency procedures
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and workshops
Provide a friendly, upbeat and quality customer service environment at all times, for all participants.
Ensure a safe environment for all participants.
Practice safety and risk management.
Assist with physical activities for the community under the direction of Lead Fitness Monitor.
Assists in participants education and personal fitness in a variety of settings (i.e. home, clinical, school, community)
Consults with Lead Fitness Monitor about questions or problems related to the care of participants
Assists in the development of culturally sensitive participants’ education materials
Follows and adheres to policies and procedures
Submit required reports and records to Lead Fitness Monitor
Participates in the project quality improvement and evaluation program under direction of Lead Fitness Monitor.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of confidentiality rules and regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Must be self-motivated and organized.
Must have 2 years of continuous sobriety from drugs and/or alcohol.
Must have a verifiable driver’s license.
Ability to initiate and follow through with assignments using policies and procedures.


Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED,-along with any supporting certifications such as BLS and other necessary competencies (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, PALS, etc.).
Must have a valid driver’s license, own vehicle and liability insurance


Working Environment:

The work environment involves risks and discomforts of a patient care setting including exposure to communicable diseases, working with office machines, and computers. The demand of computer terminals and keyboards for long periods of time that may cause eye, shoulder, and wrist strain. Work is performed in a smoke-free office setting. There is adequate light, heat, and ventilation in the work area.
This job requires extensive standing and walking in the fitness center and within the community; lifting 30-40 lbs and assisting the participants who will be using fitness equipment.
