Provides chair-side assistance duties for Dental Providers in all phases or restoration, prosthodontic, surgical, endodontic, and periodontal treatment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with all routine, advanced and specialty procedures, including dental examinations, oral surgery, orthodontics, pediatric, and general dentistry.
Assist with services provided WRFCHC in schools, clinics, and other community locations within the service area.
Works with varnishes, sealants, dental films, and impression models.
Provides compassionate care for all patient age groups, especially children, youth, and elders.
Performs rubber cup polish and topical fluoride treatment assigned by the Dentist.
Operates dental x-ray equipment to take intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs.
Use dental software (currently Dentrix) for x-rays, charting, scheduling, and entering chairside notes.
Provides patient education and instruction in prevention of oral diseases, post-service, and operative care.
Maintains professional knowledge regarding new procedures and emerging issues in oral health.
Cleans, packages, and sterilizes all dental instruments, utilizing autoclave, and ultrasonic cleaner.
Takes primary dental impressions for study model, pours stone and trims model.
Answers phone calls, schedules patients and routes patients for services as required.
Maintains recurring reports, including those concerning patients, materials, and equipment.
Properly store and maintain adequate supplies in dental stations.
Performs other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the program.
Dental Assistant Certification, along with any supporting certifications such as BLS and other necessary competencies (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, PALS, etc.).
OR MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma/GED with an interest in pursuing a career in dentistry and willing to obtain a radiograph certificate within 60 days of hire date.
Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
Must be able to stand for extended periods.
May be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
