JOB SUMMARY:

This position works with the Supervisor to supervise the subordinate employees that perform laboratory and x-ray services. They will be responsible for supervising Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians, Phlebotomists and Radiology staff. They will assist that Supervisor, Technical Consultants and the Laboratory Directors in implementing and maintaining laboratory standards for accreditation. They will assist the Radiology Department in implementing and maintaining radiology standards.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Supervisor with the day-to-day operations including attending meetings, providing supervision of staff, scheduling, writing policies, education of staff, education for providers on laboratory tests and medical necessity.
Can approve the paying of bills and order routing supplies in the absence of the supervisor.
Will provide the supervisor with employee assessments for evaluations.
May assist with the investigations of technical failures and of employee, provider, and patient complaints.
Will assist the supervisor with short- and long-term planning in conjunction with the needs and plans of Wind River Family and Community Healthcare.
Will assist with the laboratory accreditation and must have experience with CMS, OSHA, FDA and other regulatory agencies.
Will assist with the Quality Control processes and must be able to follow the policy and implement a Quality Control Plan.
Will assist with the implementation of Quality Assurance program.
Must be able to perform and/or direct instrument maintenance, calibration, sample processing and quality control.
Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a BS in MLS, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or related science.
Must be a Medical Technologist that meets the CLIA regulations as a supervisor.
Must have at least 6 years of experience as a Medical Technologist and 3 years of progressive administrative experience.
Certification preferred, but not required.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check under the Indian Child Protection Act and Family Act (P.L.101-630).
Current BLS Certification or must be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
